Autumn gift: Knitted Leaf Patterns and tutorial




Materials:
Size 5 straight needles
Green DK yarn
2 double pointed needles
wool needle
Free knitting tutoiral
Pattern:
Cast on 3 stitches
Row 1: Knit into the front and back of the first stitch, purl, knit into the front and back of the last stitch. (5 stitches)
Row 2: Knit row
Row 3: Knit into the front and back of the first stitch, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, knit into the front and back of the last stitch. ( 7 stitches)
Row 4: Knit row
Row 5: Knit into the front and back of the first stitch, knit 2, purl 1, knit 2, knit into the front and back of the last stitch. ( 9 stitches)
Row 6: Knit row
Row 7: Knit 4 stitches, purl 1, Knit 4 stitches
Row 8: Knit row.

Alternate rows 7 and 8 three times.
Row 15: Knit 1 stitch, knit 2 stitches together, knit 1 stitch, purl 1 stitch, knit 1 stitch, knit 2 stitches together, knit 1 stitch. (7 stitches)
Row 16: Knit
Row 17: Knit 1 stitch, knit 2 stitches together, purl 1 stitch, knit 2 stitches together, knit 1 stitch. (5 stitches)
Row 18: Knit
Row 19: Knit 2 stitches together, purl 1 stitch, knit 2 stitches together. (3 stitches)
Row 20: Knit
Row 21: Knit 3 stitches together.
Bind off.

Sew in the ends neatly and for the leaf stem, pick up two stitches at the base of the leaf and knit an i-cord for about an inch.
The leaf above is the wrong side of the leaf and the leaf below is the right side. I prefer the wrong side of the leaf and will use that side for my projects:)




Leaf number two.

Materials:
Same as above

Pattern:
Cast on 3 stitches.
Row 1: Knit into the front and back of the first stitch, purl into the back of the middle stitch, knit into the front and back of the last stitch. (5 stitches)
Row 2: Knit the first stitch, purl the rest of the row and knit the last stitch.
Row 3: Knit into the front and back of the first stitch, knit 1 stitch, purl into the back of the middle stitch, knit 1 stitch, knit into the front and back of the last stitch. (7 stitches)
Row 4: Knit the first stitch, purl the rest of the row and knit the last stitch.

Row 5: Knit into the front and back of the first stitch, knit 2 stitches, purl into the back of the middle stitch, knit 2 stitches, knit into the front and back of the last stitch. (9 stitches)
Row 6: Knit
Row 7: Knit 4 stitches, purl into the back of the middle stitch, knit 4 stitches.
Row 8: Knit 1 stitch, purl across the row, knit last stitch.
Repeat rows 7 and 8 three times alternating them.
Row 15: Knit 1 stitch, knit 2 stitches together, knit 1 stitch, purl into the back of the next stitch, knit 1 stitch, knit 2 stitches together, knit 1 stitch. (7 stitches)
Row 16: Knit 1 stitch, purl across the row, knit last stitch.
Row 17: Knit 1 stitch, knit 2 stitches together, purl into the back of the next stitch, knit 2 stitches together, knit 1 stitch. (5 stitches)
Row 18: Knit 1 stitch, purl across the row, knit last stitch.

Row 19: Knit 2 stitches together, purl into the back of the next stitch, knit 2 stitches together. (3 stitches)

Row 20: Knit 1 stitch, purl across the row, knit last stitch.
Row 21: Knit the three stitches together.
Bind off.
This leaf may need some blocking.
Sew in the ends and knit an i-cord for the stem.
